I reprinted the cards on a few different colored stocks to easily show different players influence on the table.
At this point I began treating each players deck as completely separate, because every player had the same deck it meant more options became available as the game progressed and more players were involved (I have 3 now).
I also re balanced the decks but redistributing diet and habitat qualities a few different times until I felt the game play became smooth enough.
Now, players can play off each others cards and create diverse, mixed areas. This vastly helped balance the game in terms of playable options and began to introduce tactics such as making own exclusive web or scattering around multiple so you cannot be removed easily.
I continued to explore the role of the pests - do they remove cards? can they be moved? reused?
Additional winning conditions became available such as completely eliminating players from the table using pests.
The habitat conditions were removed from the borders of the card as this severely limited playable options and were instead changed into the new mechanic of matching two for two out of the three that sat at the base of the card.
I began to explore a few things to diversify the grid such as plants only being placed on corners of cards and cards only being able to support 3 cards max (1 side must remain empty).
